Kalmar in brief

Kalmar offers a wide range of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centres and to heavy industry. Kalmar is the industry forerunner in terminal automation and in energy efficient container handling, with one in four container movements around the globe being handled by a Kalmar solution. Through its extensive product portfolio, global service network and ability to enable a seamless integration of different terminal processes, Kalmar improves the efficiency of every move.

A global business shaping the industry

Our offering consists of cargo and material handling equipment, automation, software and services. The Kalmar product range includes straddle carriers, reachstackers, empty container handlers, terminal tractors and forklift trucks. Kalmar’s offering also covers maintenance contracts, technical support, spare parts, training, crane and equipment modernisation services and Kalmar One automation system. Bromma spreaders are also part of the Kalmar business area.

At the end of 2023, Kalmar had more than 4,907 employees in over 30 countries, of which the largest were the United States, Malaysia, Sweden, China, Finland, Poland, Spain and Australia.

Kalmar front line sales and services are organised in three regions. Kalmar's assembly units are located in China, Malaysia, Poland and the United States. Kalmar has research and development centers worldwide, a Technology and Competence Centre in Tampere, Finland, and an Innovation Centre in Ljungby, Sweden.
