The industry workhorse

The Kalmar Classic Straddle Carrier is the container industry’s workhorse, offering supreme reliability combined with easy and cost-efficient maintenance: only basic mechanical skills are needed and all maintenance points are readily accessible from ground level. Like other Kalmar straddle carriers, the Classic model is designed for extended service intervals of up to 1,000 hours to keep downtime to a minimum while maximising equipment utilisation.

Driven by two powerful, fuel-efficient diesel engines and reliable, low-noise hydrodynamic transmissions, the Classic model has a low centre of gravity for safe cornering at higher speeds, helping you speed up your container handling operations. It is also equipped with Kalmar’s patented Smoothlift rope hoist system, which combines the benefits of cylinder and rope hoist systems and gives the driver a better view of the loading process.
